Maldon Triathlon 2022
Posted by Jack Garwood on 18 July 2022
It was a scorching hot day with a muddy swim, a fast and flat bike and an off-road run, not a place for PBs.
The first-timers:
Andy Barnard put on a solid performance coming under 2:30hr in his first ever triathlon, followed shortly after by James Beales in 2hr 47m and @Reece Bond in just over 3hrs. (Sarah Barnard)
The regular:
Jack Garwood (Jacob) came home in a respectable 2hrs 55 after a great swim and a solid bike.
The podium places:
Andy Notley posted an excellent swim and then the fasted bike split of the day by 2 seconds to the nearest competitor to bring home 3rd in the 40-40 Age group 8th overall in 2hrs 17 mins.
Tom Anderson recovered from his traditional slower swim start with the speedy bike and a high-speed run to bring home 3rd in the 20-39 Age Group, 7th overall in 2hrs 16 mins.
And finally, I had a good showing winning the 20-39 Age Group and placing 2nd overall with a 2:07:39, narrowly losing out to an ex-pro.
